Colistin(polymyxin E) is a polymyxin antibiotic produced by certain strains of Bacillus polymyxa var. colistinus. Colistin is a mixture of cyclic polypeptides colistin A and B. Colistin is effective against most Gram-negative bacilli and is used as a polypeptide antibiotic. It has a strong bactericidal effect by damaging phospholipids on bacteria cell wall.

Effective on Gram negative bacteria (E.coli, Salmonella spp; Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enteritis, Pseudomonas aeroginosa etc.). It is not absorbed from the intestines when taken orally. It diffuses only in the gastro-intestinal canal and is eliminated via feces.

Pharmacological dosage:100.000 I.U./kg live weight/day
Practical dosage:2 gr Medicol / 100 kg live weight.
Treatment period:3-4 days
Rabbits, calves and lambs:
Pharmacological dosage:100.000 I.U./kg live weight/day
Practical dosage:1 gr Medicol /50 kg live weight.
To be mixed into drinking water which should be the only water source available.
Must be prepared on a daily basis

Product is packed in locked  plastic jars of 20 g, 100 g, 500g, 1 kg and drums of 2 kg.
