Doxycycline is a broad spectrum, semi-synthetic tetracycline and effects by binding on the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes hereby stopping protein synthesis in the bacteria. This action is effective against a large number of Gram-positive (Bacillus sp., Corynebacterium sp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathia, Listeria monocytogenes ve Streptococci) and Gram-negative (Actinobacillus sp., Bordetella sp., Francisella tularensis, Haemophilus sp., Pasteurella multocida, P. haemolytica, Yersinia sp., Campylobacter fetus, Borrelia sp. ve Leptospira sp. Moraxella bovis) organisms, anaerobe bacteria (Actinomyces sp., Fusobacterium sp.,), Chlamydia sp., Ehrlichia sp., Coxiella burnetti and Anaplasma, mycoplasmas and some protozoa.
It reaches after oral administration peak plasma levels in young ruminants in 2-8 hours, in poultry in 12 hours and keeps this level for 6-12 hours. Bioavailability is around 80-90%. It has high lipid solubility and diffuses hereby in all body compartments. Doxycycline has the lowest renal clearens and the longest half-life among tetracylines. It is eliminated via feces in an inactive form.

MEDOX WSP is effective on diseases caused by susceptible bacteria in chicken and turkeys and calves (No rumination).
Calves: Colibacillosis, Colisepticemia, Chlamidiasis, Pasteurellosis, and other gastro-intestinal and respiratory system diseases.
Chicken and Turkeys:onic respiratory system disease (M. gallisepticum), Ornithosis (Chlamidia psicatti), infectious synovitis (M. synovia), Cholera (P. multocida)

CHICKEN: Pharmacological dosage:10-20 mg/kg live weight/day
Practical dosage:20-40 gr Medox/ 1000 kg live weight.
CALVES: Pharmacological dosage:10 mg/kg live weight/day
Practical dosage:2 gr Medox/ 100 kg live weight.
Treatment period:3-5 days
To be mixed into drinking water which should be the only water source available.
Must be prepared on a daily basis
