The active substance ofPREVENTIUM 45%, Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate is a semi-synthetic pleuromutilingroup antibiotics. It acts by inhibiting protein synthesis of pathogenic mycoplasmas and bacteria. According to pharmacokinetic studies conducted in mammals and poultry, following oral administration or injection tiamulin is rapidly and almost totally absorbed and also drug clearance complies with classical pharmacokinetic models. Following oral administration tiamulin is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract with peak plasma concentrations being achieved within 2 to 4 hours and it is rapidly converted into its metabolites, which have almost no or very few biological activity, within 24 hours. Tiamulin is mostly excreted via feces and some is via urine.

Gram-positive: Clostridium perfringens, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Erysipelothrix spp.,Corynebacterium pyogenes.
Gram-negative:Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides spp., Campylobacter (Vibrio) coli.
Treponema: Serpulina (treponema) hyodysenteriae.
Leptospira:Leptospira spp.
Poultry: In the treatment ofrespiratory system (onic respiratory disease) and articular system infections (infectious synovitis) and diseases caused by tiamulin susceptible bacteria mainlyby Mycoplasma gallisepticumand Mycoplasma synoviae.
Pharmacological dosage:30-60 mg/kg live weight/day
